Las Mujeres del Ajusco is a special short film, a kind of by-product. Poncho Sauer and his crew traveled to Mexico in 2019 to register the social commitments of the DirecTV group. They visited Ángeles Leal, a woman who, with other women ofAjusco, CDMX, built a day school so that children could get an education, mothers could go to work, and families could get training in health care and other needs. DirecTV donated money to finish a soccer field for the school.
Ángeles and her colleagues are incredible women and their story of building this school, going to university at the same time, educating the children, and empowering women in their roles, not just as mothers, and all this in a contemporary Mexico, where women's lives are often threatened and patriarchy is still deep and structurai, impresses me deeply.
